Not only chromebooks but you can buy all kinds of old used computers that were part of some office somewhere in 2013 or something. The downside is that you're using old technology so probably running them at max and your electricity bill will be rekt compared to a pi which costs a couple of £ per year if you run it 24 hours a day

this isn't even true tho. if you get a mini-PC from like 2016 (which is literally 7/8 years ago) they'll idle at effectively the same as a Pi. And we're talking single digit watts here, you'll save more power if you open your fridge less.
