Why would any AI company pay for this when they already took all of reddit's data up until the APIpocalypse last year? Are they worried about staying current with the latest stale memes?

too r-slurred to find out beforehand that the data was freely available. could be, lots of money in the hands of idiots

Think about how many user profiles are on Reddit.

A company could easily create personas out of the "higher quality" profiles and test any number of products/services against these personas before ever bringing said product/service to market.

Getting the opinion of (most likely) tens of thousands of "people" like that is worth an easy 60 million each year for fresh data to pump in.

Your idea of what AI can do is limited to memes, which is why you can't fathom what someone would do with a dataset like that.

There's also the very real chance that those people are all idiots. Poors (especially Americans) always like to believe that rich people are smart, which is why they're rich.

But...they already have that dataset from 2006 - 2023. Have redditors gotten more rslured or more commercially viable in the last 8 months?

Have redditors gotten more rslured in the last 8 months?

I think we all know the answer to that question.

It's probably a futile attempt from a losing AI competitor to try and catch up.

Live interaction? Imagine running AI persuasion accounts, and not only having up-to-the-minute profiles on each user you message, but being able to monitor their future behaviour and check how much you influenced them. Or you target a certain thread with a specific narrative and see how many accounts who viewed that thread disseminated said narrative over the next week.
