>A day of the life of a DEI program manager

>11:00 am - Wake up. Early birds are racist.

>11:30 am - Attend a sync up meeting. Standup is not inclusive. Everyone needs to come up with 5 words to remove from our dictionary.

>12:00 pm - Have lunch at a black-female-owned Chinese restaurant. Scold the owner for cultural appropriation.

>1:00 pm - Meet with one of my program sponsors. Discuss what protest we need to fund next.

>2:00 pm - Check internal Slack messages and mark those who used non inclusive language

>3:00 pm - Have s*x with a queer peer

>4:00 pm - Go back home. Work is racist

>10:00 pm - Attack random people online

The point is to increase the funnel for more applicants of different backgrounds, not lower the standards.

Affirmative action is so important. No, you're not allowed to name specific people who have benefitted from it. But they would be hurt if it went away.

I really don't get it.

  • Company advertises a job on Monster or somewhere like that

  • Company receives applications blindly, because you can't see the race or s*x

  • Select top ten job apps to interview

  • Get a feel if people were lying on their resume and if they're a healthy personality for the team

  • Let them do a reverse interview by hanging out with your current employees and ask them if you are an butthole boss or if the place is toxic.

  • Hire them if they like you back

if you don't discriminate by race and gender you end up with 80% whiteys, and in STEM jobs with 80% men.
