Where's that thread somebody posted here where some guy went to a Linux forum and was asking for help with printing from a common, store bought printer, and they winded him down with thirty unrelated questions to nowhere and sneedingly ended up trying to convince him he didn't need a printer?

I've found the best thing for printers is to 1.) hardwire them with ethernet. 2.) find the web GUI and disable everything that is from the 1970s and only use IPP.

Everyone that sneered bear is regarded. Bears will kill you but printers won't. Idiots.

The printer of my parents isn't supported for Windows 10 (it's old) but there are some open source Linux drivers around, so the easiest way for me to get it to run is to just connect it to the spare raspi that's been collecting dust in my closet for years and be done with it

Being fair, I've experienced the same issue in Microsoft forums and tons of other places. Nothing is more enraging than having an issue you're trying to fix, reading 20 pages of fanboys/shills circling around a few other guys with super simple questions, only for the threads to end with an argument against even needing the requested feature/fix with a vague admittance the vendor/system doesn't have the feature/fix.

I had a kind of niche phone that did a stupid bright animation every time you unlocked it. I casually wanted to turn it off, and with some searching found a few threads on the vendor support forums with people asking the same thing. Those fricking support cute twinks (not sure if paid or fanboys) were asking people why they cared that much and to just not look at the phone while they unlocked it, they thought the animation was cool. :marseymalding: It was bright and distracting and I don't want my fricking phone to act like it's going into hyperspace when I want to quickly check it during a meeting. Couple years later, after I'd switched phones (for a few reasons), I saw some feature update article on the phones where you could turn off the animation.

Jesus christ. Just say your shit can't do it and here's a suggestion box you frickers. Linuxcels often pretend they're the exception to this, but the root is just autism.
