All you have to know about X11 is that screen tearing exists by default and you have to jump through hoops to get rid of it.

I don't know much about this but I couldn't set 2 different refresh rates and figuring out monitor color profiles was :marseyraging:

And I was reading they was like "just have 2 x servers one for each monitor" our something like wtf does any of this mean

Not to mention the issues with variable refresh rates, full screen, and compositor

if you used any of the major DEs, which were the default in any of the major distros, then you had a compositor, and hence no tearing, by default. you had to go out of your way to install a specialized wm with no compositor, with which you had the option of installing a compositor with anyways, in order to reduce tearing.
