I got fed up with msmpeng.exe (real time antivirus protection) taking up like 15% - 20% of my CPU when new processes are opened and so I tried disabling it.

Disabling real time protection in the settings just turns it back on after like 15 minutes. So I tried to use registry keys, there is a hold over registry key from like windows 7 that is supposed to disable the anti virus, but Microsoft has decided that they are just going to ignore it and leave it in as a placebo for people like me to make it just a bit harder to disable.

I ended up having to download some program written by third worlders called iobit unlocker to unlock the file so I could just delete it.

But as soon as I deleted it windows started worrying that they couldn't sell my data to the US government so they started running a program called like compattelchkr.exe to scan my computer and see if I have made any changes that might invalidate the value of the telemetry data they want to sell of me jacking off at 5 am.

Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer are literally demons from the 9th circle of heck and I want them to suffer.

It honestly works for 99% of stuff, but if you are into weird old stuff or heavily modded stuff like fivem you might struggle.

I'm convinced Windows 14 will just be linux with everything running WINE, kind of like jow Edge is just chrooomium now.

It will have better backward compatibility, run smoother, be better for devs and more consistent UI

listen Jack, have you considered

The CompatTelRunner.exe file is a Microsoft Compatibility Telemetry file found in your C:\Windows\System32 folder. In order to keep Windows devices secure and improve the quality of its services, Microsoft uses Telemetry to collect system data and information. The CompatTelRunner.exe file is also used to upgrade your system to the latest OS version and install the latest updates.

About your query in getting rid of the system file completely, we'd like to inform you that this is enabled by default and considered as part of the required Windows services since it gets installed every time your system downloads a new update. This is also the main reason why you can only disable it in your Task Scheduler as it ensures compatibility if you want to update to the latest version of Windows.

Do not hesitate to reply if you need more help.

Regards.
