Hardwarecel ranting about Intel CPUs degrading and being unstable

https://youtube.com/watch?v=eUzbNNhECp4

Literally the only thing Intel had left was a reputation for being relatively reliable and now it might not even have that since all their performance metrics are called into question by the failures :marseyxd:

I bought a 13700k for a new build last year - it's so fricking over - I should have gone AM5, fml :marseycry:

!codecels Interesting screenshot from the video, some post on Warframe forums by a dev breaking crashes down by CPU type for all Nvidia GPUs. Something is definitely fricked with Raptor Lake and I don't think it's even a question.

timestamp in video for this

I think I'm just going to ride mine into the ground and buy a new motherboard+cpu if/when it breaks. Chalking this one up to another "should have trusted the schizos" situation and writing the mobo/cpu money off as already burned unless something big changes.

yeah me too probably, my 2600K lasted 10 years without issues. and I always weary of AMD as I use my system mostly as a workstation. If this lasts another 3 years im fine

Shintel is also now slowly requiring soldered on ram too (again soldered not SoC like Apple which at-least gives you performance gains) so shintel lab tops will have the upgradeability of a Macbook with 0 zero benefits

Seems unlikely to me unless we have breakthroughs in DRAM scaling.

It's simply not cost effective to slap that much memory on the package for things like servers.

I mean the ram is soldered into the laptop so you cant replace it. Which is becoming common with shintel consumer laptops.

I misread what you said.

I wonder if soldered ram like that would make it to desktop :marseyhmm:

I do think there's benefits they get from "build your own" PCs that are less tangible than profit.

Yeah literally. Everyone I know who took the Team Red Pill had a least some months of instability. My friend's AM5 system still will retrain his DDR5 memory at random boots.

He also has issues with HDMI output on his 4090 that seems related to the AMD iGPU - wacky stuff.

you say you program in rust, but it seems you haven't actually released any software, curious?
