When I upgraded from Windows 7, I did some frickery I don't remember to install the "internet of things" version of windows 10. Only gets security updates, no windows store, and support lasts until 2030 or something like that.
Have to use normie windows on the work machines and dear god, it's impressive how they manage to ruin a great operating system with first-party malware.

It was windows embedded edition or whatever (may have been renamed to IoT edition later) and it was relatively easy to get genuine licensed copies of it for free through """educational channels""" with very minimal verification iirc. I was using it at one point as well. I don't think the loophole for it exists anymore though.
