Google has been locking android down more and more over the years. You basically can't root anymore because of the safety net stuff
I always thought android was really cool when I was younger, but I eventually gave up on it and just got an iPhone because of the fact that if Google wants to turn their phone into a knock off iPhone, I would just get an iPhone instead. I specifically bought android phones because they were open

Plus when foids see the blue bubbles they implicitly know they're dealing with a man who is a respectable adult capable of providing and not a manchild that spends way more time than anybody reasonably should playing with gadgets.

The funniest part about the bubble colors is that Apple violates their own developer guidelines by making the SMS bubbles hard to read
I don't even really use actual text messages anymore to be honest with you. I mostly use signal

It's not like a green bubble would ever contain anything worth reading.

I mean personally I don't consider what 99% of people have to say to be worth reading lol

When they shut down their amazing podcast app, I thought, "no big deal, I'll just load an earlier APK." They shut all those down too. Fricking cute twinks.

I'm still mad about this. A lot of the other podcast apps for android suck. And no I don't want to use Spotify for podcasts.

I've gone through like two dozen apps trying to find a single podcast app that works as well. Every single one of them sucks.

I guess a part of me just prefers a reliable smartphone as an adult
It's certainly fun to flash custom ROMs and such (I still do that on an Sammy tablet) but at the end of the day I need to check my bank account here and there and need reliable MMS.

I'm a lot lazier than I was when I was younger lol I really don't care about that stuff as much anymore
I started to sour on android when safety net got implemented and apps that had literally no reason to have safetynet enabled would prevent you from opening them because you were rooted

"so you want to order a cheeseburger on our app? sorry, you're rooted so you must be trying to scam us somehow" (honestly not an invalid assumption in a post-jeet XDA world)

Actually, it's funny that you mention that because I think Burger King had an exploit if you were rooted that you could pull up a debug menu and get access to the coupons that are stored in the app

Too many of them have taken away replaceable batteries and expansion microSDs.
Heck my first android had a microHDMI next to the charging port.

Modern Android phones have HDMI via the charging port. You need a hub/dongle, but don't act like microHDMI had cables frequently lying around.

I'm talking fully separate port, dedicated. Ive done the dongle thing before but that was back in 4.4 when you could still Bluetooth a Wii nunchuck to your Android and emu games on your TV.

My 4.2 phone was perfect
pre phablet era... it was under 5"
I carried around extra batteries for it sometimes, which I could just take the back cover off and swap
