I was installing helix-term and I noticed that my WSL2 Ubuntu 22.04 distro compiled it faster (41 seconds, in the native Linux partition) than on bare-metal Windows (64 seconds). Has anyone noticed this as well?

wsl2 is absolutely banging. it runs under a hypervisor but the key point is that the windows kernel also runs under that same hypervisor, theyre peers in terms of access to the hardware.

its a much better experience than using macos for development, only problem is you have to put up with the windows gui

Maybe I’ve just gotten used to Win11 and Server 2016, but I find nothing overtly wrong with the gui. The absolute WORST was Win8. I have no idea wtf they were thinking
