I was installing helix-term and I noticed that my WSL2 Ubuntu 22.04 distro compiled it faster (41 seconds, in the native Linux partition) than on bare-metal Windows (64 seconds). Has anyone noticed this as well?
WSL2 faster than Windows?

IT community doesn't give a shit about OS and uses whatever they have to to get their work done.
More accurately, we are the shut-in neckbeard community.

WSL2 is great but I have seen "programmers" use it just for the bash terminal. It always amuses me that they run an entire hyper-v VM just to be able to use linux commands when git bash or cygwin exist.

It's honestly understandable because the windows cowtools and command line environment are just that bad.

It's overly verbose but you can do a lot with it. It's far better than bat scripts and ngl I sometimes like it more than bash.

Not surprising a Linux distro would ship with a more optimized compiler

wsl2 is absolutely banging. it runs under a hypervisor but the key point is that the windows kernel also runs under that same hypervisor, theyre peers in terms of access to the hardware.
its a much better experience than using macos for development, only problem is you have to put up with the windows gui

Maybe I’ve just gotten used to Win11 and Server 2016, but I find nothing overtly wrong with the gui. The absolute WORST was Win8. I have no idea wtf they were thinking

Helix looks neat. LSP without plugins+manual-keybinds sounds comfy, so do the pop up menus

I don’t need you. There are a whole lot of other streamers that deserve my time and support. As they say there are plenty of other fish in the sea. Fish without husbands too... you liar skank. I will no longer be dedicating 1/3 of my day to moderating your chat. Let the wildebeests roam... and if you need me, I’ll be in STPeach’s chat from now on. You may not know this but I actually do watch her streams after yours are over. And I’ve been a 6 month subscriber as well... I donated her $30 the other day and said her outfit looked cute - she said I’m a sweetheart. Things are looking up for me (and down for you). This is where I bid farewell to you, have fun being a liar bitchface.
