And the entire benefit of Gentoo gone out the window with a single article... nice

Thats new, how would I write code with -O2 in mind? Do you have a link or an example?

For example, you keep a toy oxygen molecule on your desk and stare at it all the time.

Yep it's all open source. People are lazy?

March=native is a celebration of the heritage and culture of the Gentoo tribe held in the month of march. Apparently something went wrong with that and gentoocels are on suicide watch.

There's an operating system called Gentoo that's about 20 years old, which requires you to compile every program you install. This means installing a large program like a web browser can take literally hours.

The ostensible reason is to increase performance, because a program (supposedly) works faster if it's compiled with the specific model of processor in your computer.

Well this butthole just used empirical evidence to show that...no, there's no real increase in performance. Kinda blowing away the only real reason to use Gentoo.

We just need a GentooV2 that automatically benchmarks all applications with different configurations and picks the best one

Is this a typo or is this some autist using ln2 for benchmarking

LN2, or liquid nitrogen, is often used for benchmarking because it can provide a significant boost to performance. However, it's not the only way to benchmark and there's nothing wrong with using it.

It degrades your chip though. If you run it at excessively high voltages then it will gradually overclock for less - a phenomenon known as chip degradation. You should only use ln2 for if you don't care about the chip such as for overclocking competitions.

I'll say it once and say it again... Gentoo isn't good for speed, it's good for development and pure customization.

Also emerge is pretty fricking dope lol. It's my goto developer OS.
