Why Bluetooth remains an 'unusually painful' technology after two decades - CNN

https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/10/tech/bluetooth-technology-headache/index.html

It's cnn but don't worry. They don't say anything political in this one.

Also the top comment has someone's car autoplaying a song that they can't delete with a shirtless gay muscular man album cover being displayed on their giant touchscreen lol

I relate to this low key frfr no cap. In order to play music via Bluetooth in my car, I have to turn on Bluetooth, pair my device, forget that I switched " make this device discoverable via Bluetooth" off, turn that on, pair it again and connect. For some dumb reason there are only 4 devices that can be on a paired devices list in that cars stereo, so I have to delete one when I want to connect.

Why would you ever turn Bluetooth or discoverability off lmao.

Bluetooth security was on a "just hope you're not a target lol" level last I heard. Car tech means that +5. Has it gotten better since? Yeah I'm sure it's great now.

Yeah I wouldn't want to have to see someone Airdrop me a peepee randomly thats totally a valid fear that happens all the time.

That would be fun at least (dudes rock!), but it was more like "I got your contacts because you were discoverable" or "I get to listen to your call and you don't know". It's been a while, so things will have progressed. Hooray!

Yeah I frickin love that new cars have a shitty android OS running like my brakes and gas pedal and door locks so that Hildawg can download malware that suicides me off a bridge if I make mean tweets about her on the giant r-slurred ipad that replaced all the useable buttons and features

God darn I am so happy that U2 album is still buck breaking like half the fricking developed world. It’s like watching fat people get chased by angry birds.

I haven’t even dropped it from my library because every time a song from it comes up on shuffle I get to be reminded about how butt fricking blasted a legion of boomers are about this stupid album existing.

that U2 album

Oh god, did anyone ever do a write-up what (maybe) happened there? And when people had uncensored songs and they got replaced with censored ones? Didn't some people also lose hard to replace lossless files to lossy ones? I mean, aside from "We Are Apple, We Know Best". Because it sure looks like apple wants to be the one definitive music database on the planet and they don't like it when people want a different or even better variant of officially approved library.

Basically your music library is a cloud thing, not a device thing. But the idea of that is completely incomprehensible to 99% of boomers who own iPhones, so they're stuck with A GOD MFKIN COMPUTA VIRUS THAT KEEPS PUTTIN THE GAY PORN ON MY BLUETOOTH.

Sure, it's a cloud thing and nobody cares as long as they don't "sync" them to different stuff. But apple apparently hates how some people like uncensored, or lossless stuff, or not like U2. What is up with their syncing, clearly ignoring users wishes?

They have lossless (HiRes at that too) now so I'm not even sure that's a concern anymore.

Great! After how many years by now? Did this discussion about "they deleted my irreplaceable lossless files from my local hard drive" ever go anywhere? I guess I must be wrong. Nobody got their original and local files synced and replaced with different versions... even if they did, they have better files now. Don't ask.

that is because music is important culture. itunes and apple is shit and they DO know better but disrespect it. everyone who uses apple for music is an idiot and should get shat upon, squared. Did you ever want to have a specific version of a song? Good luck.

I have Apple Music but still have a FLAC library on my NAS for critical listening.

I wonder if they’ll do more in the space of “I want the ‘97 Live version of this song by Foobar” with their acquisition of a classic music streaming app. That stuff is extremely important with that genre.

IME Apple to Apple BT isn't so bad. I think the worst is automatic switching between devices.

Funny the rando BT buds I got off Amazon seem to work with my Sammy tablet well enough :marseyshrug:.

Also my car from '06 has been fine with a Anker BT -> FM which even does USB-C PD. Quite a nice gadget.

FTM is the natural end product of any woman on a journey of self improvement and should be encouraged, it’s only MTF that goes against God.
