It differed by period. There were times when we supplied Afghanistan through Russia and then -stans. And yes, convoys in warzone needed escorting, often done by PMCs, and that costs money.

as much as 400$ figure seems to be only for airlifting fuel, which wasn't preferred way of doing it. Dunno how often they had to resort to it.
