Is this supposed to be controversial? Russia has been occupying Ukrainian border areas for several years and they shoot missiles every day. What the frick would somehow make it wrong for the Ukrainians to retaliate in kind?
I'm honestly shocked that the Ukranians haven't already invaded Transnistria (part of Moldova that seceded, currently surrounded but protected by 5k Russian troops) and removed the Russian presence there.
If khohols attack Russian soil their war stop being defensive and their whole narrative of them being good guys would fall apart and Russia would win the moral game and fully justify this war. Russia will get Chinese support and Belarus will be forced to join this war and in west public will question this war
This conflict is called in west invasion of Russia and Russia call it special military operations. It has some rules. If Ukraine enters Russia than Russia will declare war on Ukraine. Atm there is no declaration of war from both side, Russia want to keep this conflict somewhat local, west and Ukraine don’t want full blown war with Russia. If Ukraine enters Russia, Belarus will be forced to join the war and together with Russia will be forced to do massive mobilization and China will start giving openly weapons to Russia. Ukraine already lives full on western buxx and won’t be able to outman Russian and Belarusian, in this case Russia will be also be able to use conscripts and nukes.
Zelenskyy idea of entering Russia is to later swap territories. Russia knows that Ukraine can capture some villages and mb towns near boarders but the gov don’t mind to lose them in such way.
It did by not declaring war and just declaring martial law then “last year March they modified the martial law to be more casual and they extend it every 90days, next one will be on May 20. They could had declared war and they wouldn’t needed to do all this dancing

Did Russia's war against the Nazis become offensive when they crossed the border into Germany?
