That's literally the goal of Zelenskyy he hopes if Russia start pounding khoholstan, west will again start whole show of standing with Ukraine.
There is no other explanation for him to asking it now after west cut help, spring counteroffensive failed and not enough people to mobilise.
Strategically it won't give much to Ukraine because Russia important targets are 1000's km away from Ukraine
