NEWS UPDATE AVDIIVKA FORMER AIR DEFENCE BASE FALLS TO RUSSIAN FORCES, 18:00 JAN 22 2024
— Mikael Valtersson (@MikaelValterss1) January 22, 2024
The former Soviet Air Defence base (red circle) South of Avdiivka has fallen. Ukrainian forces retreat to the North. There us one other stronghold directly to the North of the former AD… https://t.co/Mlp2PClClJ pic.twitter.com/5nCVAyY21Q
That place was supposed to be very entrenched and that's why Russian planned to do a pincer but since now it's broken that means Russia has all the high ground in avdiivka
Black is basically line what Russian captured so all the high grounds are under Russia.

If Avdiivka falls it's probably a bigger deal than Bakhmut. With that you could easily picture new defensive lines at Chasiv Yar + the canal, or at the Konstantinovka - Kramatorsk - Slovyansk agglomeration. With this one there's not a lot in the way past Avdiivka until Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, and the Russians could just probably go around those too. Could really frick up the Ukies lines here.
