I get the sense Putin is very sensative about the terratorial integrity of Russia and this is a shot across the bow. If you are threatening to use nukes if Russia is invaded and your enemy just pracrically claimed to annex some of your shit, its a peepee slap in the face.

He is rational and his plan was solid he enters Ukraine replaces a corrupt leader that was very unpopular by that time, sign deal that Ukraine forgets about nato and Crimea in return he leaves Donbas that's amazing deal for Ukraine. West was also expecting this to be the end but khohols showed their peak low iq and started fighting like max back so Putin withdrew and made some compromises but west thought Putin is weak and Ukraine can win. Then Ukraine again surprised when they went on offensive and announced their goal to 1991 borders, and the offense succeeded because again Putin wasn't expected Ukraine going on offensive because logically Ukrainian goal should been save what they can. So Putin decided to fortify position and turtle Ukraine out till it bleeds dry. And only in late 2023 Ukrainian politician realised they are in deep shit because they won't get better deals than what Putin in the begin offered and he is now not interested in any peace. Ukraine de facto lost over 14 million people as refugees and territory under Russia.
Very ironic so many preferred to run to Russia.
Ukrainian politician are just ultra corrupt and short sighted. Peak status in politics is being a neutral country and playing every side something Ukraine should had done instead of agro Russian
So that statement of Belgorod being Ukrainian city is just another low IQ move
