They are a nation state run by an unchallenged leader. They can afford to throw up to 10-20 million people into the meat grinder by the end of the war.
The only downside is that their male to female ratio is already 87 men to 100 women.
That ratio is only going to get worse till the end of the war.
None of that has an impact on Putin.

But what happens to Russia when Putin dies? Since the only thing that unites this country appears to be a strong leader I expect it to be torn to dozen of states just like the USSR did.

who knows. Modern medicine will keep hi alive till 90. For all we know he sets a new world record for oldest leader of all time.
