Somehow these r-slurs managed to stumble into an ambush in the middle of a wide-open desert. They proceed to get killed by a bunch of monkeys who shoot PKMs while standing up
Vatniks absolutely seething. Aftermath footage is being wiped off twitter left and right, but I have a copy here
Stupid vatnik BIPOCs seething about the CIA and more
The admin of GreyZone, a popular vatcel telegram, was also killed
Wow such a badass photo. Real tier 1 operators. Look at that vehicle!
Wait. LMAO

80???
How does that even happen in 2024? Don't vatnigs have EW? Drones? Any kind of recon?

they had their air support shot down (1 helicopter down and 1 ran away) and the 2x convoy the helis were protecting was ambushed.
They basically lost to muzzie intelligence who saw them coming (farmer snitches) or knew they were going to deploy there, then set up MANPAD teams and 2 different ambush teams on hills as they drove by.
Basically what the afghanis did to Russians for a whole decade once they got MANPADs from uncle sam

It just seems crazy that ruskies lost more people in a single ambush that frogs did in 10 whole years. What an enormous frickup.

They most likely don't have any doctrines or trainings about what to do in an IED attack so most likely sat there frozen indecisively while getting ripped apart by machineguns and RPGs and tried to stand and fight instead of pushing through, re-grouping and re-engaging with their armored vehicles. They most likely don't even bother with having a constant UAV presence of any kind because that shit is expensive to run and maintain.

It couldn't be that expensive to at least have some fixed wing drone scouting up ahead, right?

Correct. The Orlan-10 and iranian copies they make are extremely cheap. Like $50k to make and cheap to operate. But even $500 quadcopters that can be recharged from the vehicles would have saved them. The area has been geolocated and there is literally nothing but barren desert, should have been seen easily

This is the one with a water jug for a fuel tank and a Commercial DSLR on a homemade gimbal, right?

Yes they do have those things. A single quad or recon drone should have detected this. Makes even more funny

those deserts are huge, small drones are not going to cover that territory. What probably happened was this Wagner team did an operation took a long ride to some town, brought along 2 helicopters. The muzzies set up ambush teams on the way back, the Helicopters would have provided surveillance for the land convy, which got shot down, they try to run it and hit the ambush teams.
this is how the US SOF got hit in Niger https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tongo_Tongo_ambush this is right next to Mali and the same terrorists, but US lost 4 ppl only.
Basically intelligence failures and lack of proper plan Bs and QRF.

In Niger the US had like 12 guys in SUVs and I think they held out longer then them lol

they don't need to "cover the territory" they just needed to be around the convoy to notice the giant butt ambush sitting on a ridge waiting for them. Within the range of small arms fire is not a large amount of territory for a drone to watch.

most of those drones only do like 100km max round trip, they'd need some high end Reaper style drones w/ satellite data links to do persistent stuff over huge deserts + dedicated teams. I doubt RU spares those for Mali when they only have ~40 Orion drones that fit that profile.
So that's what Helis and planes are for.

Reaper drones? They could have lived with a pair of $1000 DJI drones and a car charger alternating them above the vehicles to see more than a mile

The MRAPS in the video are made by Norinco so they probably have a bunch of non functional combat support equipment they bought on Temu.
