That's what I keep a .22 bullpup airgun for. It's fun to plink them and squirrels trying to get in my owl houses.
They never show up around here but are apparently common. You only see dead ones on the side of the road or rarely when hunting.

I found an armadillo in my old chicken run last summer. First time I had ever seen one not splattered on the side of the highway.
So far i can only one guy in my area who makes armadillo hats. Never would i ever have thought
