The Pelasgians were a very mysterious group of people who existed in the eastern Mediterranean just before historical times. Ancient historians already were arguing about who the heck they were. They're credited with all kinds of stuff, like being the ancestors of all Athenians, but nobody could ever figure this out. It's not even known if they were a nation or a social class or what. You never hear about them in pop history because historians just have no fricking clue who or what they were. I spent many years pursuing this mystery myself.
