Statement from coach: https://old.reddit.com/r/ussoccer/comments/102h5s4/berhalter_statement_on_investigation/
Soccer is notoriously European and straight so there is sure to be plenty of sneeding about this nevertheless re: domestic violence, plus others already want him fired for not winning the world cup or something. Stay tuned.

Here’s my guess and also a bit of back story for people that don’t follow US soccer. During this last World Cup there was a player, Giovanni Reyna, who was causing drama and was close to being kicked out. Supposedly he wasn’t giving full effort during practice and he was pissed he wasn’t starting/getting significant play time. He plays on a top/near top team in Europe and I would expect him to start and/or get decent play time, but he didn’t. Anyways, his dad, Claudio Reyna, was one of the best players for the US back in the day, during which he played with Gregg Berhalter (the current coach). Given that he knew Gregg 30 years ago and that his son didn’t get much action this last World Cup, I think he’s the guy behind the blackmailing.
