I don’t recognize the moderator but he seems like a colossal cute twink. At my watch parties we’d be throwing beer bottles at him.
This thread has been locked because it has far exceeded the levels of general toxicity that we're willing to handle or tolerate. While from the mod team we understand it's unpopular, it's completely necessary in order to stop hate from propagating.
We're sorry to those affected that want to comment in good faith, but we can't allow the floodgates of division to open.
Depends tbh. Like I've said this before I think but it feels like there are 2 /r/soccer's. The soy politicised one that is heavily Americanised and then the F5 squad types who really only pop up on match threads or major tournaments, or to shill their GOAT. The latter group seems to be more "normal" at least for Reddit as a whole.
I got banned for "mods need to earn their salary" comment, I've seen someone get banned for getting into argument about Guardiola and similarly mundane stuff.
They're had an internal conflict few years ago and any remaining "normal" jannies (as normal as a janny can be) left.
I posted a newsweek article of Hope Solo claiming that Megan Rapinoe would "bully" teammates into kneeling for BLM and got torn into shreds on /r/soccer worse than any other sub i've posted controversial news articles lol
Like on other subs they would fight amongst themselves and pretty much leave me alone but /r/soccer was all about shooting the messenger even though I never engaged in the comments
I can’t even remember what I got IP-banned for. I’d make and delete Reddit accounts when I needed to touch grass but I never even said anything about blacks, trans or mods.

Literally how
Only my 3rd world friends watch soccer. The banter gets racist as frick real fast. Is this what happens when only white people watch soccer together?
