Anyone knows about some funny/dramatic transfer day happenings? Share in this thread!
In Germany there's one about Simon Zoller (forward at VfL Bochum, so low 1. Bundesliga team). The team of Düsseldorf (2. Bundesliga) was interested in him and they deal basically was already done. So he went to them for the medical check which he passed. Nothing could prevent the transfer, right? Except that suddenly the board of directors of Düsseldorf said "Nope. Not happening. You're too expensive" Rumours are that they tried doing that to get him to lower his agreed upon wages. The coach obviously was mad, cause he really wanted to have the player. So after 4-5 hours the board says "Okay, we will agree to the transfer".
But Zoller was already on the autobahn and signed at St. Pauli (also 2. Bundesliga) who are now super happy. And it seems like Düsseldorf doesn't have a backup plan for a forward. Fans mad.
