It is surprising how things have changed. When I was growing up the stereotype of English football was the "a cold rainy Tuesday night in Stoke" meme. Now you have shit-stirring teams like Getafe in La Liga who head up their terrorism ball component or the terror that is Union Berlin in Germany (though Germany has a lower tolerance for such kind of football so they aren't really that bad) for example while football at the high level in Bongland now has fully bought into the technical skills meme ala Germany (and is part of the reason many teams in the league are undergoing a striking crisis).

Decade of mid and lower table LaLiga teams getting terrorized by Messi + R9 and generally very strong Barcelona and Madrid teams, plus Simeone showing how far can negative tactics take you. OTOH PL's insane money allows them to assemble insanely technical teams, and the focus on "product" demands cleanness and sterilization, everything needs to be inoffensive, not dissimilar to Disney.

Also, refs in Spain and Portugal are something else. Yeah PL has crazy incompetence, but Portugal is straight up corruption ( @Transgender_spez can probably rant about Porto this season) and Spanish ones have massive main character syndrome and there are often politics involved with them.
