It makes sense from the perspective of the football businesses that they want to expand how many people watch football by promoting women's football. I don't think they'll ever have much luck getting women to actually watch it though more so than the few that do already.

I have no problem with women's sports, and if I have a daughter one day I would hope she'd have the opportunity to share in my love of sports with real female superstars to look up to, but so much of the media narrative seems to be more scolding men for not watching instead of promoting it to women who should in theory be the main consumers of women's sports entertainment.

I'd still think those are aimed at women more than men. I'm reminded of that study they did on the effects of scolding people for doing piracy and how it only really had the effect they wanted on women. I'd assume advertising companies know what works on who and a lot of the annoying adverts out there are just stuff that isn't supposed to work on you anyway.

I've been to several women's professional soccer games. It's fun, but it's fun because the boys get together at the stadium, have a few too many brews and heckle a bunch of underpaid foid athletes, not because of the actual game.
