OP is right, parental leave is bullshit. Or at least it should be treated as an optional "corporate culture" perk like free lunches, not a bedrock human right. Having someone disappear for a few months is an annoyance in any case, and employers should be able to use it as an opportunity to get rid of shitty employees who they aren't looking forward to having back.
