>So tonight, we were hanging out, just chatting, and they mentioned having read "some" of the anarchist literature I gave them. Here's where it gets real.
>They basically dismissed anarchism in general as a belief system for people who wanted to do nothing more than complain about everything and not take any responsibility for their own lives. In other words, the resistance to the system was just a failure to do what is necessary to make one's life better.
>I honestly had no words. We sat watching telly for a while after, and then at some point I just began to sob. I got up and left.
>Yeah...I also had a moment where my partner just put her foot down and refused to accept my beliefs. If I were living out my Anarchism, it would be a real problem for our relationship.
i love how they admit 'yeah lol its just a larp'
The little that I did do before, shoplifting and donating that stuff to a soup kitchen, my partner demanded I stop.
literally just a foid justifying her shoplifting habits through ideology
The amount of time and effort she spent specifically shoplifting things she could give to charity, she could have improved herself, made more money and had more influence, and put way more into both the charity and fighting the big corps in a better way than shoplifting.
>I don't know how I can even begin addressing their comments since it felt like they must've known it would most certainly be taken as a judgement on me and my worldview.
Basically she is probably your typical Reddit-tier mentally-ill "I haven't failed, capitalism has failed" loser and this reflects in her political beliefs, and it's awkward to have to defend these political beliefs because it will betray attitudes about her own failures that she is uncomfortable defending.
This is probably an unexploited vector of lulz: Loser communist/anarchists who are dating more-successful non-leftists who they have to hide their politics from because it will make them look bad to people who they are probably emotionally/financially dependent upon. Usually this arises within nuclear families between parents and children and its waved away through the parent/child power imbalance (parents have to support their children even if they have shitty worldviews), but in situations where you have clear responsibilities for both sides it can get a lot more awkward.

imo this is my favorite bit:
