Threads like these really show how detached from reality the reddit hivemind can be. It's not that women won't ever date shorter men, but most of them are absolutely attracted to men noticeably taller than they are. The 6ft and up thing is a little neurodivergent but I'd say at least 6+ inches over the woman's height is considered attractive. I wouldn't say being shorter is an outright failo though unless you're like 5'2

If you actually go out into the world and see real couples you will learn that at worst height is a preference but not a requirement. Just like how I have an ideal vision of the look of the woman I want, but I am more than willing to sacrifice several of those preferences if I like her enough. Most of the dudes crying about heightism likely have very little else to offer but want to put blame on society other than improving themselves.

The 6' and up seems to be a dating app thing. Women have terrible eyes for what actual height is and how few dudes are actually 6' tall.

Yeah women on dating apps are overwhelmed with guys trying to frick, so the specific 6ft requirement is a useful filter. If you're a manlet who thinks he's going to swipe right and get easy kitty, you're going to have a rough time. In the real world, unless you're an extreme case, you can still do ok, you just have to make up for it in other ways, like being charming, funny, in good shape, not broke, etc. It's like anything else, if you're deficient in one area, you have to max out your other stats to make up for it.
