My go to is "are you saying that cause you think I'm ugly?" People shut up really fast. Altho I've only done this in person.
Even better if you're in person and there other people around: “are you saying that cause you think [specific feature they pointed out or are staring at] makes me ugly?” Bonus points if there are people in the vicinity with that same trait. The insulting individual will (hopefully) get embarrassed asf.
