If anyone but WOTC was doing this I would be cautiously optimistic.

But its WOTC so its going to fricking suck, hope they ban Mirror, and Despair.

Everyone just plays commander now anyway.

I'll be real, standard wasn't healthy back when I owned a store and I can't imagine it actually is now. This will lead to more bans but probably a more healthy game.

overall I think it's a good move, the problem is WOTC can't do anything right

Yeah I guess it'll come down to how they manage bans and how card design evolves going forward. There are a lot of cards in standard right now that just have really good value, you can jam them all into a deck and if you play on curve you win more than you lose because everything you play is a 2 or even 3 for 1 card advantage wise.

I dunno I'm just unhappy with the state of standard right now in general, maybe I need to take a break. Apart from the aforementioned B/R or U/B/R midrange good stuff decks the meta feels like it has more generally annoying decks in it than usual. Wow you went first and you're playing mono-red burn so I guess if I don't draw one of the four cards in my deck that even gives me a chance of stabilizing I just lose. And now poison is back so I have to sit through the occasional single player game where my opponent ropes out every turn before figuring how how to kill me with poison. It feels like too many games are decided by who draws too much/too little land or who curves out better.

I haven't played in years so I might be behind the times, and I was never a big standard player so you may just be right.
