I have a hunch that "nerdiness" is kind of a third gender in some ways. In a woman it's malebrained, but in a man it's emasculating and weakening.

good point, had to think about that a little bit. It's male in the same way that killing yourself or being homeless is male. Not part of the idealized male archetype, but a mostly exclusively male phenomenon.

Unlike homelessness/suicide, nerdiness is not neccessarily a failure-state of attempting to fit the standard male role, but something else, a different mental state/capacity/disposition to a "standard male brain". I do admit it tends to afflict males/AMABs more often, but it seems like a third "role" which an AFAB can step into but are less likely to.
Also killing yourself successfully is a male trait, not just suicidality - it has to do with use of more successful methods than biofoids.
