This never happened. What actually existed in a ton of cultures is that gay men (who weren't in the closet) would become cross-dressing prostitutes. That's it. That's the frequently occurring "trans" representation in world history across many areas and eras. The pattern is always just men, not women, and sexual cross-dressing, not transitioning and not being accepted as actual women.
