That's because RDR2 likely burned down entire departments worth of skill in its development and the top brass realized another one like that would collapse the company. So it's less revolutionary and more iterative now. If it works why fix it. Just a guess though.

I don't disagree but this is far from a finished game, they're running it without a lot of post processing and some of the assets still look placeholderish. Either way GTA has never been graphically impressive.

Yeah true, I hope they're not planning to release this on old consoles. By the time the game comes out it'll be 3+ years since new ones came out, surely it'll be time to move on. We'll see how it looks in the end I suppose.

My problem with these open world games is how lifeless they seem. The graphics are shit because they have to cram a bunch of people and cars and buildings on the screen but you get frame rate dips when things start exploding anyway. Then all the NPCs are just aimlessly wandering around and not reacting to anything. That first Cyberpunk in-game trailer really ruined these games for me by showing me what open world games could look like.
