I think the difference is, in a game, you can ignore the ham-fisted writing for the fun gaming choices. The fun of an RPG is to pick which side you want to work for and how you would achieve that solution. You're right that Fallout always had dumb leftist talking points, but the main reason you play most games is not for the dialogue or story but rather the gameplay.
With a TV show, there is no gameplay, the only attraction is the dialogue and story. So the leftist talking points go from something you can skip, to the literal only point for consuming this media.

Woke isn't just lefty. It's lefty, without subtlety or nuance, is far more about Current Year politics than anything in the setting, and is not just diversity but idpol-diversity. Which is diversity not just for its own sake, but also more important than character and personality.
Not everything with lefty politics, or a diverse cast, is woke. If the lead woman is a girlboss who can do no wrong and everything is the men's fault, if the head bad guy has been changed to act like Trump, if the 'bad' factions are all-white and the 'good' factions are all about DEI over survival, then it seems like that's inserting woke into Fallout.
