The intention of the surveys/studies is to find that lots of women play video games. Therefore, the methodology is always constructed in such vague terms as to include as many women as possible. They will define games as broadly as possible. They will define the act of playing those games as broadly as possible.
If the survey isn't measuring hours played or dollars spent(on yourself), it doesn't matter what genres or platforms they sample.

Anecdotal but foids seem far more prone to sinking r-slurred amounts of money into in-game purchases. They're especially prone to rationalizing with "it's only $X per day, which is less than I spend on [other foid money pit]". I mean I occassionally browse twitch and it's not surprising. 98% of streamers are charisma voids - weird voices, (neurodivergent?), gollumish looks, no interaction with their audience etc. It's just that women take their clothes off so it draws an audience.
It's no surprise that anyone with a modicum of charisma and a deeper voice succeeds as a streamer / youtuber.
