I don't recomend buying the Touhou on steam because

1. Zun never puts them on sale and 15/game is fricking murder

2. Essential features like practice modes for bosses don't exist and have to be modded in for the older games, you are better off playing them on PC if you are interested.

As far as gameplay issues go: Typically in every 2hu you are over flooded with bombs/resources and the stage design is often lazy, games often have at least a few methods of cheesing out 1CCs that you didn't earn

If you do end up buying any of them, buy Wily Beast or Unconnected Marketeers.

What's the deal with those tofu or whatever games. I don't care about the neurodivergent weeb fandom, are the games actually good shooters and what are the good ones to get

Most of them stink but because they're hardcore weebshit, still get a lot of attention and praise simply because of that.

There's a lot of good western/indie made shmups but because so many shooter fans are weeb-adjacent, they largely get ignored.

But even when you throw out 25% of them for being straight up garbage, scams, or mis-tags, that's still a lot.

I own and have played many of them, so if you have any specific games you want to know about, let me know. Looking through my recent plays, Void Gore was a fun one that uses a roguelike mechanic. Batsugun is one of my all-times, as is Donpachi (not on Steam) and DoDonpachi. Sky Force Anniversary and Reloaded are great western shooters. Etc etc. Don't know where to begin, there's probably 500-1000 games in that list that are good.
