Nope it handles 16:9.
It is however limited to 480p and not even a good 480p signal at that. I'm not even getting 480p there either, only 480i (composite).
Researching last night it seems the cheapest fix is to use component cables for 480p, but there's an HDMI 480p mod that gets you the cleaner signal - however it requires soldering.
It seems the meta is just buying a Wii U for the best OOTB signal.

Dokapon Kingdom is an interesting take on the virtual board game genre. Its not the best game but it is pretty unique and obscure. Custom Robo is a pretty fun gamecube multiplayet game too

My own wii finally gave up the ghost a few years ago…
Well, not really. But something about the disk drive has aged and it can't run the games unless I fix it. I need to take care of that because I won't be able to play otherwise
