Of COURSE that's why they do it; without ever really having thought about it I assumed it was just part of the addiction mechanism but that part probably isn't even intentional. Line gotta go up.
Fortnite's (the only game I play that was released in the last decade) can at least be done in like 15 minutes and don't help you all that much.
