Why do the characters look so fat and stupid?

Oh, lol. I found my review of DAO in my games.txt file:

Dragon Age: Origins

  • a shitty Oblivion knockoff, MMO "attacks" and boosts style, blocking is a joke
  • terrible GUI for looking at armor upgrades and what not

The combat in that game is soooo shitty.

Wut

I can't think of two fantasy RPGs with more different gameplay that Oblivion and Dragon Age

I'm 99% sure you can't block in DA either

It reminded me of Oblivion which was decent, but it's MMO style. Oblivion lets you 'glide' and you swing swing swing the same way like an r-slur, but at least you can block. DAO is "standard attack" "standard attack" "big attack" "powerup" and repeat ad nauseum with locked in foot movements (MMO style). There's very little skill involved.

Yes, you can block. It's just so shitty that you forgot about it.

YOU'VE NEVER PLAYED OBLIVION OR ORIGINS, OR AN MMO FOR THAT MATTER. EDUCATE YOURSELF casual..: https://dragonage.fandom.com/wiki/Warrior_talents_(Origins)

Duh, it's real time pause you r-slur.

The point is managing your team during combat.

And no, after checking, you can't block. Blocks and misses depend on your stats.

>lame blocking

>ignores the simplistic MMO-style combat

Really, it's not because it's "real time pause" because BG2 was fun. DAO is pure butt, so I'm not sure why you're coping so hard about it.

You're the one comparing a real time pause game to an action RPG and wondering why it's not the same.

Here:

Quality cRPG gameplay is measured by the frequency and duration of player-engagement in cRPG mechanics. Holding down the W-key 90% of the time is not gameplay. And when a patch added Q-key auto-run, player-engagement was not exactly enhanced. Moreover, sight-seeing is not gameplay and nor is clicking on keywords for loredumps and spamming the attack button.

This lilura1 blogger puts it pretty well. I'm guessing DAO and shit like that was your first RPG as a kid?

lol 99% chance I'm older than you, but do keep seething an entire day later about your terrible tastes in video games

Uh huh. It's an overrated game.

Its simplicity reminded me of it, probably also the graphics. I apologize for my two bullet review not being a 30-min video essay.

It's true. Every time I try to play (which was one time) the combat sucked so I said frick it.

Jade empire and kotor combat sucked too but I liked those
