I read a comment somewhere that LEGO did a study and found that when playing with LEGO boys tended to pretend to be the character and play as the character. While girls tended to play themselves as the character. Ie boys take a batman mini figure and pretend to be batman, girls take the same figure and go shopping and whatnot. I think that philosophy explains this kind of behavior. And the sexual competitive thing women do where they hype up other women making themselves uglier and tear down women they view as prettier doesn't help.

Found it

"One of the main things was they couldn't really relate to the Minifigure," says Mauricio Affonso, Friends' model designer. "It's too blocky. Boys tend to be a lot more about good versus evil, whereas girls really see themselves through the Mini-doll. They wanted a greater level of detail, proportions and realism."

Interesting so it's that they actually required the mini-figures to look like them to play with them? That's weirder than what I thought. lol

I've been looking for that link too. It's kind of fascinating and I hadn't really considered it before. It starts to make sense why woke politics (which is basically just politicised foidery) is so absolutely obsessed with 'representation'. They just can't enjoy something unless there's someone who literally does look like them.

Yeah, I think that may be a big part of it. But for gaming I think it is mostly sexual competitiveness. They see a medium almost all men partake in and all the female characters are super hot and they feel upset about it. Similarish to how guys tend to react when they see women with a dude from another race.

I don't give a shit about vidya that isn't Animal Crossing but my theory is moids are delusional and think, "Yeah, I'm totally as badass as Sgt. Call of Duty. I coulda been a star marine." Like how every scrote who ever played a sport in college has a story about how he almost-went-pro-if-only-for-talent-and-work-ethic so he had to get an MBA instead.

Is this your comment? I was reading a /tg/ thread and immediately reminded of what you said

Also, you should read this below if you haven't:

It's fascinating, the fantasy and role playing games went from "I want to be the hero", through "I want the hero to be me" to whatever the frick this is. What is even the point of this being fantasy anymore?

No, but someone else must have seen the same thing I did.

To be honest the legends and lattes thing actually sounds like an interesting idea to me because I feel like the typical fantasy hero story has been told many times. This is something new. Although I lose a lot of interest with the use of "latte" rather than some drink that fits a medieval fantasy setting.

I also thought of a counterpoint, Isekai anime. Those are largely self insert wish fulfillment by men for men and they are super popular.

I know, I pasted the comment below to imply that the issue is self-inserters rather than women.

Ah yeah. Makes sense. Although I think the stories and character personalityies may be tainted by self inserts. But I think women are still to blame for demanding hot characters be replaced with characters that look like them.
