I will be honest with ya. By God of War Ragnarok there was definitely a feeling of too much story and not enough violence.
I would have genuinely preferred if instead of toning down the violence, they simply took the path of violence only for a just cause allowing for Kratos to still go full murder hobo psycho but only against actual monsters.
They could have kept the humane clean kills limited to Loki/Atreus and kept the extreme violence parts to Kratos like the old games showing Atreus as the so called better kinder future while Kratos accepted his place as the gatekeeper of an older more vicious era.
