Video game discourse is not "broken". It was always shit. G*mergate just gave g*mers a new Boogeyman to blame for company failures, and introduced tangential politics into the mix. I can remember as far back as Halo 2 having a strong crowd that defused to hear that it was a shit game, even though it was compared to the original. And a horde of fanboys shouting them down on every forum.
