After the second subnautica game was released (which apparently didn't count as subnautica 2???) it was clear that the original game was a fluke and it was kino by complete accident. No faith that subnautica 2 is gonna be any good.

didnt the original writers get booted from the company or some shit? i remember there being some sort of shit that went down between 1 and cold version but i cant remember what exactly.

I remember that below zero had its entire story rewritten halfway through early access, but it was nonsensical trite even before that change.

Tbf the first game really only holds up on a blind play through anyway, since once you know what the game has, it's nothing special. I honestly don't know if it's possible to make a sequel that doesn't go in a completely different direction.
