Generally people are shocked that Eurog*mer gave this a perfect score, and people are pooping/praising tthe Skullup guy.
In general it reminds alot of people of Mass Effect 2, which is good enough for me.

I've never played Dragon Age, but I do love Mass Effect. Andromeda was bad but not because of the comedy or "wokeness" or whatever, it was just a cheap product overstuffed with "content." So I don't necessarily doubt their ability to make a good game. This art style is definitely butt tho

Andromeda also wasn't made by the main studio, Bioware had expanded to have secondary studios in other cities and then gave them minimal guidance, assistance, or oversight and also the people at the main studio acted super arrogant towards the satellite studios. I think only the Austin studio managed to not fall apart and then close but they were mostly focused on the MMOslop Old Republic.

Dragon Age is one of the few franchises, where I played some of the games as a teen, and yet I have no recollection of most of the story beats, atmosphere or lore. I only remember the main character cast, which is what BioWare were specializing in ever since the positive reception of the companion characters in Baldur's Gate 2. Imho, that game still has some of the most raw and cringiest companion romance dialogues in it, quite endearingly, considering the type of person that wrote them
As such, I don't have a strong opinion or any personal investment with this game/franchise. I know that this entry went through a few rewrites and overhauls, which made the creative lead for the previous DA games outright leave the company, which is never a good sign. I assume the success of Baldur's Gate 3 last year emboldened and might've prepared an audience for a product like this. The way Larian handled companion interactions, including le
, is the logical endpoint of what BioWare were doing with their games for a long while.
Still, lusting for Bastila throughout the whole game and then being tempted to the dark side by being able to mind-break her in Kotor or staying honourable and winning her heart that way somehow feels more fulfilling than having your companions be immediately interested in banging you. Modern romance has no buildup, which makes all the climaxes rather boring.
