I think so. Gameplay-wise 2 and 3 leaned much more into being a shooter than an RPG but they had more fast-paced fun in their own way. I played Mass Effect 3 on release and had a great time except for the ending, and I'm told some of the updates and DLC for Mass Effect 3 made it better. There's a lot of great story in it even if it's imperfect. My kind of autism does not feel things can be retroactively made worse by later content being bad, some people seem to have that problem.

1 > 3 as a vanguard > 2 > 3 as any class besides vanguard

The writing in 3 is bad throughout, the ending is just when the idiot masses realized it.

90-95% of 3 is fricking great and the culmination of 1&2, especially if you play the DLCs. Even 5 minutes up to the ending have some pretty good moments. The ending is 10 mid minutes of a 30-40 hour experience that's really a 100+ hour experience if you include the other 2 games. And the ending isn't even truly awful, part of it just kind of sucks. I haven't heard a good, universally pleasing alternate suggestion for an ending that's not basically another game.

If you liked 1 and 2, 3 is worth a play.
