I can't remember Tevinter relationship with elves without mixing up the witcher. They're the evil slaver blood human sacrifice empire right? And as of inquisition pseudo homophobic? Where does that come in.

I think it was said that they first learned their magics from the ancient powerful elven empire (that was actually equally keen to enslave poor elves). But I don't remember well either.
Oh and the emo elf companion in DA2 suggest they have some magical warrior elven slaves.

I think the homophobia came from Dorian who was a gay human Tevinter mage companion who got excommunicated by his family for not passing on their family name more or less. Idk if it went beyond that, I do not remember.
But yeah Tevinter is basically the stand in for the Roman Empire in the DA universe but are pretty much about to fully collapse like Byzantine in 1400 as they are getting btfo'd by the Qunari (Ottomans).
And yeah Tevinter has slaves (both eleven and human) but they were the nation that shattered the elven homeland thousands of years prior to the games and are led by a bunch of magi that officially do not do blood magic (sacrifice) but in actuality totally do. Tevinter also killed DA's version of Jesus lol.
