Is meat in the US "best by"? I honestly would be careful with meat that is only refrigerated and not frozen that is a week over. Obviously also depends on the type of meat (linked minced meat). And I would definitely not eat it raw (like some minced meat)

Yeah sure, but you can buy meat that expires the next day. Would you eat that a week later (only refrigerated, not frozen)? That's what I meant.

I mean you cannot sell anything here in Germany that is over the date on the package. But of course you can buy something and then eat it a month later (like joghurt). I have some cheese her that is old and "expired" months ago.

The mexican grocery stores will take beef that's at the expiration date and heavily marinate it and sell it for making tacos or whatever. I only know this because I bought some and fortunately I noticed it didn't smell right while it was cooking.
