I can't describe how disappointed I was when finally got to try absinthe and it just gets you drunk like any other liquor and finding out the stories of people hallucinating were propaganda to make it look bad.

Maybe I don't have a very refined pallet but it tasted a bit like Jager without the sugar and more liquorice. And it just gets you drunk no green fairies.
